In order for Solstar to run effectively, there are certain system requirements that must be met. Below are the Minimum and the Recommended requirements:

NOTE: If all of SOLSTAR systems are used, approximately 15 Mb of disk space will be needed for program storage. Additional space is required for SOLSTAR data.

Solstar Features

Schedules can be adjusted or students can be completely schedules on-line at any time after the normal scheduling has been completed, even new students at the beginning of the year.
  • Reports that will evaluate the scheduling results, show conflicts and rejects, and maximize utilization of resources can be displayed or printed.
  • The system is designed for the administrator to select from a number of options in many areas to make the software suit the needs of the school. The options are broad enough to include most situations within a school system. Seven semesters can be used as well as eight days and four shifts.
  • Students are allowed to make specific requests for classes, rooms and/or teachers and will be scheduled to these specific requests if the scheduling options are so defined.
  • Data (Courses, Teachers, Classes, Student Profiles, Student Requests) may be entered by scanning, manual key entry, or importing from another database.
  • Classes may be restricted in a number of areas such as ability, grade and sex.
  • Classes may be balanced by sex, ethnic group. or total seat count.
  • Classes may be linked so students will be scheduled to all or none of those classes requested.
  • The scheduling system supports Alternate, Required, Elective and Optional requests.
  • Blind teaming is supported.
  • Mass change features can be used to initially set up requests for students, modify schedules, and replace dummy entries of courses and many other functions.
  • Printing using Windows printer selection program.
